|3rd Grade Team @ Whitehills Elementary||
Hi everyone! I am very excited to get to know each and every one of you. We're going to have a fabulous year full of learning and fun! My classroom is a safe place to try new things, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, try again, and soar! I hope my students feel comfortable enough to go outside their comfort zones to learn and try new things. I encourage open communication, so please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
This is my 7th year teaching in East Lansing, and I am excited to be spending it at Whitehills with a great group of 3rd graders. I taught 2nd and 4th grades at Red Cedar for 6 years and 3rd grade in Texas for a year too. I am proud to say that I earned my Masters degree in Educational Technology from MSU (go green!), and I now teach teachers how to integrate technology into their lessons in the same program. I'm a bit of a techie, and I can't wait to share and learn with you!
I am married to Brad, and we have 3 little boys (Kaleb is in 7th grade, Collin is in 3rd, and Jacob is 2 years old). I love to spend time with my family, read, write, travel, and do anything artsy-craftsy. I also love to play with gadgets and learn new technologies.
I am excited to welcome you to Whitehills Elementary and the 2014/15 school year! I consider it an honor to teach and learn from this new group of third grade scholars. Children are some of the best people I know and my goal is to encourage each to reach her/his personal best. This is going to be the best year ever!
This will be my fifteenth year teaching elementary children. I have taught third grade, kindergarten and fourth grade. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with minors/certification endorsements in Theater and History from Michigan State University. I have an Associate's Degree in Arts and Sciences from Lansing Community College. I earned my Master's Degree from Michigan State University in the Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching. Finally, some of my best learning has been from scholars in my classroom. I gather information from them beginning the very first day of school to differentiate my instruction and best meet needs so each scholar can meet and exceed expectations.
My husband (Matt) and I have four daughters (Maggie, Amber, Lisa and Lexi), two son-in-laws (Eric and Nick), and identical twin granddaughters (Leyna and Klaira). We have a recue dog named Theo who is part terrier, part poodle and mostly human. I love children, learning, teaching, reading, traveling, Michigan memorabilia and peafowl (peacocks, peahens and peachicks)!
