Unit 6: Division and Measures of Angles
Check out the Unit 6 Written Assessment below for the goals covered and assessed in Unit 6.
Vocabulary:
Division: dividend, divisor, quotient, partial quotient, remainder
Angles: angle, clockwise, counterclockwise, full circle, half circle, obtuse angle, acute angle, rotation, vertex

Division . . .
Not only do we learn different strategies for multiplication, we also try out various algorithms for division as well. I have included 2 videos to assist you in helping your child with his/her homework. Though these strategies may be different than the way we learned to divide, they are extremely helpful for some kids to understand that dividing is also equal grouping. We will also learn the traditional "long division" algorithm.

Full Circle ProtractorWe use protractors to measure angles. Angles are measured in degrees. In class, we compared the full circle protractor to a clock. There are three different lengths of marks on the full circle protractor.

Using a Full Circle ProtractorAngles can be measured by clockwise or counterclockwise rotations. We measure the angle that has a directional arc showing us what angle we want to measure, as seen in the picture here.
